Engulfing Candle by Atilla YurtsevenI have been backtesting many known strategies. I have created this Engulfing Candle indicator which makes it easy to detect engulfing candles. I have also added a short/long signals.
Description:
Engulfing candle: If a candle's high is higher than the previous candle's high and low is lower than previous candle's low, it is called Engulfing Candle. If the Engulfing candle's color is red, it is bearish, if green it is bullish.
Strategy: There are many strategies out there. The most known is creating pending orders after a few pips away from the direction of the engulfing candle. Assuming we have a bullish engulfing candle. At the beginning of the next candle, we simply create a buy-stop order (pending order) over 5 pips of the previous candle's (engulfing candle) high. Let's say bullish engulfing candle's high was 1.16051. In this case, we create a buy-stop at 1.16101. Also please take spread into account! If our order is not filled in the same candle, simply cancel the pending order.
This indicator does not repaint. Once signal occurs, it will not be removed. However, engulfing candle's type (bearish or bullish) can only be confirmed by the end of the bar!
I actually don't use Engulfing candle's in my trading. I am sharing this indicator in case you may need it.

New Candlestick PatternsI have redesigned the first candlestick patterns. This one works with most time frames... The only time frames that it have some difficulties is the 1min to 15min and only on the doji, because sometimes the doji doesnt have any points(pips) in movement.
1. This is a editable indicator. You can change all the colors the way you want them. I have changed my background to the gray/black so that I can see the bright colors easily.
2. I have coded the indicator so that whenever you have a candlestick pattern forming it will send you an alert if you have created one. You can create one alert for all the patterns happening on the chart. (P.S - The higher highs and lower lows is not included in the alert system because its only a indication of the trend/support & resistance)
3. If you want only one of the indicators that is all in one here, you are more than welcome to let me know if you would like to have only one of them.
Note - I will give anyone access to this for a trail period of 2 weeks. Please let me know if you want to test this.
Thank you for your support and likes :)
Engulfing H4 + FilterI realized this indicator to facilitate the Backtesting operations.
The indicator autonomously detects the Engulfings to which filters can be placed. The available filters are:
- ATR (discards Engulfings which do not have a body greater than or equal to the value of ATR)
-SWING(SWING filter, the indicator ensures that the Engulfing minimum/maximum must be the absolute minimum/maximum with respect to the number of spark plugs selected in the settings)
- L3C/H3C (discards Engulfings that do not form an L3C or H3C)
- RSI (Discards Engulfing that is not in overbought/oversold in the first pattern candle)
In addition, the indicator draws 4 lines (2 for bullish Engulfings and 2 for bearish Engulfings) which are SL and TP.
The Stop Loss is calculated an ATR below/above the swing generated by the two Engulfing spark plugs and the Take Profit is calculated according to the return risk set in the indicator, which is 1.5 by default.

RSI Swing SignalThis indicator is a tool designed to be used with Steven Hart's RSI Exhaustion strategy. For more information google TheTradingChannel or look him up on YouTube :)
The default RSI settings for this strategy are:
RSI Overbought: 80
RSI Oversold: 20
Length: 7
When the RSI gets above 80, the line will turn red and the script will begin looking for a specific type of engulfing candle to go short. The same is true when the RSI gets below 20, but the line will turn green and look for longs. It is best used as a back-testing aid, but it can also be used to send emails or SMS alerts whenever the conditions are met. It can also be used as an alternative colored RSI indicator by removing the signals in the settings menu and changing the RSI parameters to whatever you normally use. This can aid in RSI divergence and overbought/sold strategies.
Entries:
The bright green and bright red lines represent the first type of engulfing candle.
The dark green and red lines represent the second type of engulfing candle.
Some pairs perform best with only one of these entries, while others work fine with both.
This is a counter-trend or consolidation strategy, and is best used in combination with trend-continuation or trend-following strategies. As always, make sure you back-test it before you use it to trade as it works better on some pairs than others.
CandlesThe default script has: Doji , Bearish Harami, Bullish Harami, Bearish Engulfing , Bullish Engulfing , Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, Bullish Kicker, and Bearish Kicker. The Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, and the Kickers will usually show up better in the daily charts

PA Patterns Multi CRYPTOThis is the version for cryptocurrencies of my scanner for forex majors
The scope of this script is to work as a scanner of pin bars and engulfing candles of the crypto market.
Best to use with time frames Daily and 4h, lower timeframes gives too many results and may be noisy without trend filter.
Next improvement will be:
- To display in a better way the results, but actually you have to zoom in and out if some results are overlapping.
As the other one, this has alerts and trend filter.
If you like it, please leave a comment and follow me.
Thank you.

If you are interested in it, I could implement also for cryptos.

Reversal Candlestick Pattern With Trend IndentifierThis script help to identified popular candlestick pattern combined with trend identifier.
Most script only focus on criteria of the pattern. Such as how much the length of the body compared to previous candle etc.
Besides criteria of the candle, this script also considered the trend into the logic.
For example bullish engulfing is a bullish reversal signal, which is only valid in a down trend.
To identified trend, I'm using RSI. Normally, RSI less than 50 is considered a down trend, and RSI greater than 50 is considered up trend. In this script, you can customize the criteria of how much RSI is up trend and down trend.
Default value RSI >= 55 is up trend, RSI <= 45 is down trend.
Your feedback and suggestion is welcome.

Bearish Engulfing StrictMost of the engulfing indicators i tried seemed to only look at the candle bodies which i didnt like. This one takes into account the highs and lows as well. You get less signals but each one seem to be more reliable.
Candlestick Patterns [DW]This is a simple study designed to track multiple candlestick patterns. Custom alerts included.
Day Trade Pattern DetectorThis script will draw on your chart signs after detecting the following patterns:
1/2/3
Hammer
Shooting Star
Bullish Engulfing
Bearish Engulfing
And before that he will filter them by common technical rules
Bullish and Bearish Engulfing Patterns auto detectionThis simple indicator detects automatically most important bullish and bearish candlestick patterns formations. Used to locate potential supply and demand imbalances.

Reversal Patterns Collection:EngulfingScript contains Engulfing patterns (busllish and bearish). User can select period for candle size calculation (for distinguish short and long candles), on/off patterns highlighting.
EngulfingsEngulfings for bullish and bearish candles. Default is to compare to 20MA, but that is configurable. Bullish make white candles, bearish makes black candles. If the engulfing is against the direction of the MA, or if open and close are on opposite sides of the MA, the candles turn gray.
Bullish and Bearish Engulfing StrategyI've been trying to put a stop loss in the High or Low of the last second bar after I open a position but in this example the only way to close it, is with the opposite action. Does anyone know how to put a stop loss and order with just stop loss and close when there is a bullish or bearish engulfing bar?
Bullish and Bearish EngulfingIndicator that changes the bar's color to green if there is a Bullish Engulfing or Red if there a Bearish Engulfing Patterns.

Big Shadow by Walter Peters v1.1Version 1.1 is here!
This is an indicator for the Big Shadow (engulfing candle) that Walter Peters teaches in his course (fxjake.com) and book "Naked Forex". I have really been diving into this one and back testing it like crazy. The results have been great and I will be publishing them on the nakedforexnow.com forum soon since it probably isn't appropriate to do it here.
If you like it, please reach out to me @fredferrell on the forum. I would love to discuss back testing results with other traders.
Naked Forex Trading StrategyBased on "How Naked Trading Works" video by Walter Peters: youtu.be I don't know this person and I am in no way affiliated with him. I just found his video interesting enough to make this into a script.
Rules as described by Walter in his video:
1. if current candle makes a higher high than the previous one
2. and is a bearish engulfing candle
3. and has room to the left
4. and is the largest candle (high - low) compared to the last 7-10 previous ones
Then open trade on the next candle once it breaks bearish engulfing candle's low and take profit close above previous support. Stop loss goes a few pips above bearish engulfing candle high
Do the opposite on a bullish engulfing candle signal.
Works best on 1H, 4H and 1D timeframes.
I haven't done any extensive backtesting on this, but it looks like it gives pretty good signals:
Candlestick Patterns Identified (updated 3/11/15)I decided to republish this one without the trend filter and with all the major symbols active. This will allow for all the patterns to show up.
Due to 15 different candlestick formations in this one script, it will be difficult to turn off the last few due to screen size. You can turn off individual patterns on the settings screen.
I have everything spelled out except the hammer and inverted hammer. They are "H" and "IH" respectively on the charts. They show up so often that they cluttered the charts.
The default script has: Doji, Evening Star, Morning Star, Shooting Star, Hammer, Inverted Hammer, Bearish Harami, Bullish Harami, Bearish Engulfing, Bullish Engulfing, Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, Bullish Kicker, Bearish Kicker, Hanging man, and Dark Cloud Cover. You can turn off what you don't like. The Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, and the Kickers will usually show up better in the daily charts.
I recommend watching videos with Stephen Bigalow to get a feel for how to trade these. You will want to add an 8 EMA to your chart with his setups. Enjoy.
If you want the old version: Take a look at the related ideas below.
Candlesticks Patterns IdentifiedI was using another script that colored the bars to show the different candle patterns. Thanks to HPotter (www.tradingview.com). Unfortunately, I can't think that fast when looking across a screen of charts with different color bars. Fortunately, Tradingview came up with symbols and names on 2/26/15. I decided to take my favorite symbols and attach them to a name. This makes it easier to see what is going on and where your entry would be if it confirms. Works beautifully for me. Decided to share. I also added the ability to alter what shows up based upon a look back. A bullish engulfing at the top of a trend, or a bearish harami at the bottom of the trend, is nearly useless and clutters the chart. I have the default set for the open of the current bar to be higher or lower than the open from 5 bars back. You can adjust in the settings to what you like. This trend setting is on all the patterns except doji. If you want to see all the candle patterns, set it to "1".
The doji can be adjusted as well. I left some other patterns at the bottom of the script, but they are turned off. They became too much of a clutter for me. I prefer DovCaspi's pattern finder for hammers and stars: I use his due to the clean appearance.
The default script has: Doji, Bearish Harami, Bullish Harami, Bearish Engulfing, Bullish Engulfing, Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, Bullish Kicker, and Bearish Kicker. You can turn off what you don't like. The Piercing Line, Bullish Belt, and the Kickers will usually show up better in the daily charts.
