Pine Screener - what do you need to know before you start working?
To work in the Pine Screener, you need to:
1. Select the watchlist the symbols from which you want to check.
2. Select an indicator from your favorite indicators. If necessary, other parameters and the timeframe of the selected indicator are set through the indicator settings in the screener.
3. Set the filtering criteria either using the plots of your indicator or your indicator's alert conditions.
4. Start scanning.
Let's look at the workflow in more detail:
1. Selecting a watchlist
By default, the product page will open with the watchlist you are currently on in the right panel. But you can install any of your watchlists (both a colored list and a custom list).
If the selected watch has symbols, the table with all symbols will be loaded immediately (regardless of the symbol type, i.e., in one table, you will see crypto symbols, stocks, and bonds. If all these asset types are in your current watchlist).
2. Selecting an indicator
By default, you do not have any script selected. You can choose a script for scanning in the menu from the indicator.
ATTENTION! You can only use indicators that are in your favorites! If you do not find some indicator in the Pine Screener indicator menu, go back to the chart page and check whether this indicator is in the favorites.
After selecting an indicator, it is loaded in the default state:
- with default studies inputs;
- with a default timeframe of 1 day.
Studies settings and timeframe can be changed in the indicator dropdown.
When the selected indicator is loaded:
- The first 10 plots will be added for subsequent filter configuration based on them;
- These plots will also be added to the table as columns;
- 2 Alert conditions from the script will also be added;
- The option to add additional filters or columns will appear;
- A future scan button (Scan) will appear.
3. Setting up filtration
As a “blank” for future filters, you can use both those plots and alert conditions that will be installed in the upper toolbar when the script is launched and add missing ones through the filter addition menu, which contains 2 items:
If you want to use the Alert Condition as a filter, you just need to set it to the on state:
If you want to use the indicator plot as a filter, you need to set the condition and the filter target value:
4. Scan
You can start a scan at any time, even if YOU don't have an active filter or column - you can start scanning, and the script calculation will begin.
At the moment of scanning, the scan bar will rise. When the scan is complete, an update bar with stats will appear, after which you can work with the table:
If, after a full scan, you changed the following:
- Watchlist;
- Studies;
- Current Studies inputs;
- Studies timeframe;
- Filter set or states,
then, you will need to restart the scan to get new results.
