Infosys wins Rs 14,000 crore NHS contract to modernise workforce management system

2 minutos de lectura

Infosys shares rose 0.5 percent to Rs 1,500.40 on Tuesday after the IT major announced a landmark GBP 1.2 billion (over Rs 14,000 crore) contract from the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) to deliver a new workforce management solution for England and Wales. The stock recovered from early losses to trade in the green ahead of its second-quarter financial results, which are scheduled for release on Thursday.

Under the 15-year contract, Infosys will replace the existing Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system with the Future NHS Workforce Solution, a next-generation platform that will continue to manage payroll for 1.9 million NHS employees, amounting to over GBP 55 billion annually. The new data-driven system will modernise how the NHS attracts, retains, and supports its workforce -- an effort aligned with the 10-year Health Plan aimed at building a future-ready healthcare system.

The solution, powered by artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, will cover the entire employee lifecycle -- from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, career progression, and retirement. It is designed to simplify workforce planning, support data-driven decision-making, and provide an intuitive, self-service experience for NHS staff.

Michael Brodie, Chief Executive of NHSBSA, said: “Delivering the Future NHS Workforce Solution is a critical step in supporting the ambitions of the 10-Year Health Plan. The solution will go far beyond simply replacing ESR -- it will be a strategic enabler for building a workforce that is fit for the future. By working with Infosys, we’re creating a modern, data-driven solution that will help the NHS better attract, retain and support its people.”

Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys, said the partnership reflected the company’s commitment to enabling digital transformation at scale. “The NHS is a cornerstone of life in the UK, providing vital services that touch millions every day. We are honoured to be chosen by NHSBSA to deliver generational change for NHS employees through the Future Workforce Solution,” he said. “Using our experience in digital transformation and our AI offering Infosys Topaz, we aim to build a platform that drives efficiency today while empowering the NHS to elevate its invaluable work into the future.”The UK continues to be one of Infosys’s largest markets outside India, and the NHS contract marks one of its most significant long-term public-sector engagements in Europe. The deal also comes days before the company’s Q2 FY26 earnings, which will offer investors a closer look at demand trends across key markets amid signs of gradual recovery in client spending.
