LTC has some extremely strong fundamentals. People saying it has no purpose tend to be parroting opinions instead of being based in any fact. Privacy layers and being able to run ICOs are just a couple of things coming to the coin, along with atomic swaps and pioneering running on Lightening Network. LTC is doing great on fundamentals. Marketing is another thing though.
Although Charlie Lee does amazing work and the moves the foundation are making are some of the best in the space, he isn’t the best at marketing and has caused ltc quite a bit of grief which is reflected in its current price weakness.
The majority of his ltc was donated to the foundation, not sold. This is evident in the moves announced this week, this stuff is going to pay dividends in the months and years ahead

IMO, some are frustrated that Charlie sold all his LTC, and spread too much FUD. So there is a level of uncertainty with LTC's future. Others say that LTC serves no purpose. Others are saying that LTC should not get into the banking industry (buying 9.9 percent of a German bank)...
The Litcoin Foundation seems to be hard at work to boost adoption, and there has been more adoption. LTC's has been around for a long time, since 2011, and during that time it has proven itself as a decent alternative.
